Explore the hidden wonders of our coastline

This school holiday (27 March - 7 April 2026), we’re inviting our Aquarium family to Look Closer - to slow down and explore the hidden wonders of our coastline. From delicate ecosystems that sustain our ocean to the tiny, often-overlooked animals thriving within them, South Africa’s marine world is full of beauty and intricacy, just waiting to be discovered. The Two Oceans Aquarium holds a magnifying glass up to this world, so go ahead and Look Closer.

Daily holiday activities

We have your school holiday plans covered! Join the underwater amazement at the Two Oceans Aquarium with fun and adventure for the whole family. Here's what we have on offer:

Feeding time fun

At the Aquarium, feeding time is an exciting and interactive way to get to know your favourite animals a little better.

Sharks: Saturdays at 12h00
Stingrays: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12h00
Kelp forest: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 12h00
Penguins: Every day at 11h30 and 14h30

Craft to your heart's content

The Children’s Play Centre is a favourite for a reason! Throughout the school holiday, the Play Centre will offer a variety of fun crafts for your little ones to enjoy and take home.

The daily puppet shows at 10h30, 13h30, and 15h30 are also worth a visit - you're guaranteed to laugh and learn.

Guess the animal

Keep an eye out for our Look Closer panels around the Aquarium. Each one reveals a magnified view of an animal in the exhibit - can you spot which animal it belongs to? With a zoomed-out clue and a fun fact to guide you, this is a playful way to discover more as you explore.

Explore for longer

From 27 March to 7 April 2026, the Aquarium will be open for longer - from 09h00 and closing only at 19h00! Our extended opening hours are perfect for those who would like to linger a little longer, miss the holiday traffic on the way out of town, or want to enjoy a cool early evening admiring the underwater world of the Aquarium.

Meet our mascots

On weekends throughout the school holidays, our beloved Aquarium mascots will be making special appearances around the exhibit spaces. Keep an eye out for Nemo, Silver, or Samantha so you can come say hello and enjoy a fun, memorable moment during your visit.

Grab an activity sheet

As you enter the Aquarium for your day of ocean exploration, make sure to pick up a free activity sheet! With colouring-in, puzzles, and more, it’s an awesome way for young explorers to Look Closer and learn along the way. You can even take your activity sheet home!
