Meet the West Coast rock lobster!
We have some new additions to the Two Oceans Aquarium family: West Coast rock lobsters! How to be more sustainable this festive season!
The festive season has arrived! This year, we want to encourage our Aquarium family to think “blue” by giving meaningful gifts that don’t promote excess consumerism. The Two Oceans Aquarium is among the leading environmentally sustainable tourist attractions in South Africa, so we’ve got some fabulously festive ideas for eco-friendly gifting!
Festive flippers: Adopting a turtle is the best gift idea!
No more than two in a thousand loggerhead turtles survive into adulthood. Rehabilitating every single one of the stranded turtles rescued by members of the public and brought to us for care is critical. In the hands of the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation's turtle team, dozens of stranded hatchlings that would have perished (often due to human-induced hazards) can have a second chance at life in the ocean. On average, it costs thousands of rands to rehabilitate just one stranded hatchling - no small effort! You can help these efforts directly by co-adopting one of this year's hatchlings. A donation of R500 means you've provided about two weeks of food, veterinary care, and love to one of the turtles in the Turtle Conservation Centre. With your generous help, our team successfully rehabilitates and releases these turtle hatchlings, giving this incredible species a brighter future!

It's official - we've arrived at the end of an amazing year, and it's once again time to spoil your loved ones. When it comes to gifts, it doesn't get much better than a Two Oceans Aquarium membership! Let's see why.
Where does the “sting” in stingray come from?
Stingrays, with their flat bodies and floating “wings”, are one of the ocean’s most iconic sights. Unfortunately, they’re also the most misunderstood species of ray, sensationalised for their stinging tails.
