AVENUE at the Two Oceans Aquarium is a Cape Town conference and events venue with unique meeting areas for business, casual and private meetings, as well as a spectacular viewing window of the Two Oceans Aquarium's I&J Ocean Exhibit.

World Wetlands Day is celebrated internationally on 2 February. The day is used to raise awareness about the vital importance of wetlands to people and the planet. The day also marks the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands in 1971. The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation celebrates this day with a week of positive action and hands-on workshops in and around the beautiful wetland habitats of the Cape.

For the past two years, Zahraa Schroeder and her colleagues of Radio 786 has spent many a day recording at the Two Oceans Aquarium. The inserts were aired on Monday afternoons, and were known as “Aquarium Mondays”. The end of 2019 also saw Aquarium Mondays come to an end, let's look back on some of the highlights of these two years...

Stranded sea turtles have no hope - unless you become a turtle rescue hero!From 17 to 28 February 2020, a team of nine passionate conservationists, aquarists and turtle-lovers from the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation and the Two Oceans Aquarium will be taking to the road to visit the communities of South Africa's Southern Cape coast - communities with members who will likely become the future life-savers of stranded sea turtle hatchlings in the upcoming stranding season.

On the evening of 7 March 2020 the Two Oceans Aquarium, in partnership with the UCT Underwater Club, will be hosting an exciting public event all about scuba diving, called Diver24.

On Tuesday morning, 4 February, the conservation team of the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, with the support of the Aquarium's Collections team and Hooked on Africa Charters, headed out from Hout Bay to release four very special survivors. These four endangered loggerhead turtles arrived at the Aquarium's sea turtle rescue, rehabilitation and release centre with very different stories...

Yoshi the loggerhead turtle has travelled more than 35 000km across the ocean. Her story has taken the world by storm and inspired the imaginations of people from all walks of life, from Cape Town to Canberra.

In a continuous effort of offering new programmes to learners of all grades and backgrounds, the Two Oceans Aquarium will again be running courses for FET phase learners in 2020. The courses are offered, at no charge, to 50 grade 10s, 11s and 12s who show a keen interest in marine sciences and who may wish to pursue a career in this field. The purpose of this course is to provide important basic principles and terminology in the marine sciences, while also adding to their existing knowledge in the Physical Science and Life Science.

On Saturday 25 January 2020, Western Cape Morsbags will be handing out gorgeous free reusable shopping bags featuring limited-edition Two Oceans Aquarium scenes from 11h00 to 13h00 inside the Aquarium. They’ll also be educating the public about their work – come and say hi to our fantastic supporters making a real difference, one bag at a time.

During the day, the Aquarium is a wondrous place to visit. Come nightfall, it transforms into a magical space with an incredible ever-changing backdrop for any function. From gala dinners to cocktail parties and networking functions, hosting your function at the Aquarium is definitely going to give your guest something to talk about and remember.

Hagfish are weird. There is no nicer way of saying it; there is no way to sugar-coat it – they are just weird. For the sake of brevity, I will just cover three things that make them weird, and incredibly wonderous, at the same time.

Eagle rays (Myliobatis aquila) are an iconic South African marine species. Small, but charming, these rays are found along the entire length of our coastline, and range as far as the Black Sea and the African East Coast. These charismatic animals have long been a favourite of visitors - big and small - at the Two Oceans Aquarium, but how much do you really know about them?
