Spend a magical night at the Aquarium on 27 June 2026 and experience The Art of the Ocean after dark. Explore your favourite exhibits once the crowds have gone home and discover a world where every animal is a masterpiece. Watch what the stingrays, sharks, eels, and other ocean favourites get up to when the lights dim and the Aquarium takes on a whole new atmosphere.

Family fun and fascination

As part of our Art of the Ocean school holiday programme, your little ones can unleash their creativity with ocean-inspired crafts, get their faces painted as their favourite ocean animal, enjoy a cosy movie night, and take part in an exciting animal quest throughout the evening. 

As night falls, settle in to sleep among nature's masterpieces, surrounded by the gentle glow of the exhibits and the soothing sounds of the ocean. In the morning, wake up to a delicious buffet breakfast before continuing your Aquarium adventure.

It's a unique opportunity to experience the beauty, creativity, and wonder of the ocean in a way few visitors ever do.

• When: Saturday, 27 June to Sunday, 28 June 2026
• Where: Two Oceans Aquarium - You'll be sleeping in the I&J Ocean Exhibit, Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Exhibit, and Kelp Forest Exhibit areas
• Who: Active Two Oceans Aquarium members
• What to pack:
  • Picnic supper for the evening, sleeping bag and mattresses, pillows, blankets, toiletries (no shower facilities), change of clothes, snacks, and your own water bottle.
  • You may want to bring earplugs and/or sleeping masks if you are a light sleeper.
  • You may bring electronics, but please be considerate of other guests.
  • NB: No tents or flashlights are allowed.
• Cost: R395 (adults), R380 (children 2 - 17). We regret no under-2s. The cost includes kids' facepainting and craft activities, educational entertainment, and a buffet breakfast in the morning.
• Parking: Parking is available across the road from the Aquarium in the Portswood Garage. Parking ticket validation will be available for R55 from the Aquarium staff after the sleepover.
• Please note: Children need to be accompanied by an adult.
