We are reopening - and our members can come a little earlier! what do you need to know?

It's been a long five months, but the moment has finally arrived - the Two Oceans Aquarium is reopening! In line with the Alert Level 2 regulations that were recently announced, the Aquarium will be reopening its doors on 1 September 2020, but members will be able to enjoy exclusive early access.

Active members of the Aquarium will have four exclusive days to rediscover the magic of the Aquarium and to say hello to all their favourite animals – Friday 28 August, Saturday 29 August, Sunday 30 August and Monday 31 August - ahead of its reopening to the general public on Tuesday 1 September.

Not a member, but want to become one so that you get to experience the Aquarium before everyone else? Sign up here while there is still time!

Simply arrive at the Aquarium during our business hours (09h30 and 18h00 on weekdays, and 09h00 to 18h00 on weekends) with your valid membership card, and we'll let you in - just take note of our personal safety measures. If your membership expired during the lockdown, you'd like to renew your membership, or you'd like to sign up for a new membership, please see the Q&A below.

Will my membership be extended to compensate for the time lost while the Aquarium was closed?

All memberships that were active when the Aquarium closed will be extended to make up for any time that you lost while we were closed - you paid for 12 months of access, and we'll be sure to make sure that you are able to enjoy your full year of access! These extensions will be automatically applied to your membership. You don't need to take any action to get this extension.

Example: If your expiry date was originally 30 April, your new expiry date will be 30 September - 5 months later to compensate for the period of closure.

What happens to the renewal discount period?

The three month renewal period is counted from your updated expiry date. If you have trouble renewing online, please contact our Visitor Centre on members@aquarium.co.za or in person on your next visit to resolve this issue.

Will I have to stand in a queue?

According to the Alert Level 2 safety regulations that are in place, members may need to complete a short questionnaire and have their temperature checked before entering the Aquarium. We'll do our best to keep this process as streamlined as possible for you.

You can see all of the safety measures we have put in place here.

What members-only events are scheduled?

We know that the exclusive members-only family events are the highlight of the year for many of you, and we promise these will return soon! We'll be sending you more information in the Members Newsletter once a new event calendar has been finalised - but look forward to lots more fishy fun!

What if I bought or renewed a Membership during the lockdown?

Great! Please activate your new membership with us within 90 days of our reopening (that's by 25 November). You can activate it in person at the Visitor Centre when you visit. If you renewed during lockdown, your membership will also enjoy the standard extension.

What if I have more questions or am encountering issues?

These are unprecedented times for us, so small issues are bound to occur, but get in touch with us and we'll do our best to resolve any trouble you encounter with your membership as quickly as possible. Feel free to chat to the Visitor Centre team in person on your next visit, email us on members@aquarium.co.za or pop us a message on your preferred social media platform!

Sea you on 28 August, members!
