Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation celebrates partnership with Primedia Cares and CapeTalk to Protect Our Ocean Future

The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Primedia Cares and CapeTalk, one rooted in a shared commitment to ocean conservation through education, inspiration, and meaningful action.

This dynamic initiative aims to deepen public understanding of ocean health and empower communities to play an active role in protecting our marine ecosystems - because every South African, no matter where they live, has a stake in the survival of our oceans.

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Primedia Cares and CapeTalk as it provides us with a platform to share stories about the ocean, and the work we do to protect it so that people will have a better understanding of the ocean and the role it plays in all of our lives. Working together we will be able to extend our reach and build an ocean community who have the knowledge, emotional connection and hope, and are empowered to care for the ocean and her people ” says Ann Lamont, Executive Chairperson for the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation.

Trish Taylor (Head of Primedia Cares), Michael Farquhar (Two Oceans Aquarium CEO), Ann Lamont (Executive Chairperson of the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation), and Pippa Hudson (Cape Talk presenter) met to launch the partnership through a live broadcast at the Aquarium last week.

The partnership has three core focus areas: Education, inspiration and conservation. Through targeted school outreach programmes, the initiative will highlight the critical issues impacting our ocean - from pollution to unsustainable fishing practices—and provide tangible ways for individuals and communities to make a difference. From beach clean-ups to responsible seafood choices, audiences will be equipped and encouraged to take meaningful action. “Our ocean is more than just a natural wonder - it’s our life-support system,” says Tessa Van Staden, CapeTalk Station Manager “Its health directly affects our own, and through this partnership, we aim to ignite a collective responsibility to preserve it.”

Throughout the course of this year CapeTalk listeners will discover some of the other campaigns run by the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation and the Two Oceans Aquarium. These include monthly Trash Bash beach cleanups, Marine Protected Areas Day on 1 August, and African Penguin Day on 11 October 2025. Stay tuned to CapeTalk and follow the social media platforms of CapeTalk and the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation to find out more.

Together, CapeTalk and the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation will bring listeners (both inland and coastal) closer to the ocean’s most pressing stories, scientific insights, and solutions through compelling on-air content.
