Did you know that more than half of South Africa’s frog species are found in the Cape? As the world celebrates amphibians, we invite you to join three special guests at the Two Oceans Aquarium on the evening of 12 May 2023 for “Frog Night”, a speaker evening with incredible members of the South African amphibian community.

Professor Emeritus Alan Channing
Professor Emeritus Alan Channing of the University of the Western Cape is a renowned amphibian academic and educator. But, most locals will be familiar with his career as an author, whose books such as "Field Guide to the Frogs & Other Amphibians of Africa" being central to the collections of any intrepid herpetologists!
Suzie J'Kul is one of the founders of ToadNUTs, an impactful volunteer-based organisation that has rescued thousands of toads that cross urban areas of Cape Town's southern peninsula every breeding season. Suzie is also the inventor of the ToadSaver, which allows toadlets to safely exit swimming pools, and other community innovations leading to a more harmonious urban wildlife coexistence.
From Durban to Cape Town, Tyrone Ping has explored his love for local reptiles through wildlife photography. Tyrone's work has been featured in dozens of publications, and we look forward to spending an evening with him to learn more about where his passion has taken him.
The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be our very own Ayrton King, a Two Oceans Aquarium aquarist with a special connection with the western leopard toads in our care! Ayrton will be sure to inject his passion for the amphibians in his care into the Frog Night experience.
