Another AMAZING Trash Bash done and dusted!

Another morning filled with friends and family, music, and a whole lot of positive steps towards saving our ocean! Thank you everyone for a successful Trash Bash! 

This particular Trash Bash was held in celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day and took place at Monwabisi Beach in Khayelitsha. Before we rocked up in our large numbers, the beach was inevitably (and unfortunately) flooded with litter throughout. As they often do, many of our attendees reported that plastic bottles, straws, plastic bags, and sucker and lollipop sticks were among the most popular items found. If trash is not collected, which is often the case, it can cause serious harm and injury to the animals that inhabit the ocean.

In total, we were able to collect 733.35kg of trash from the beach, and prevent it from entering the ocean! 

This time, we also made sure to include some fun for the little ones! We had the pleasure of being joined by Captain Fanplastic, who shared some cool stories and activities with the kids, as well as the Oceans in Motion mobile aquarium, which provided some cool rockpool biodiversity. It's safe to say - fun was had! We also teamed up with John Dory's Zero Waste Initiative this time around, who ensured that all who attended were hydrated throughout the event. They also contributed to a few of the prizes won by our lucky Trash Bashers!

Trash Bash is always an amazing experience - one that not only includes loads of fun, cool prizes, and amazing efforts to save our ocean, but allows us to meet new ocean lovers and reconnect with familiar faces!
