Last night, SAMA-award winning rockers Shadowclub seriously upped the ante at the first show of the 2019 After Dark series presented by the Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City.

With precision and flair frontman Jacques Moolman, bassist Louis Roux and drummer Isaac Klawansky thrilled their Cape Town fans – and made some new ones – who had come out on a Wednesday evening to support local music. Playing old hits and new material, the Shadowclub set was stripped down and acoustic – an extra-special soundscape to go with the sensational backdrop of the 1.6 million litre I&J Ocean Exhibit.

The supporting act was emerging artist Manu Grace, who captivated the audience with her chilled synth pop. This solo artist absolutely nailed her performance and we can’t wait to sea what she does next.

As has become After Dark tradition, the Drifter Brewing Company once again came to the party with their delicious nautical-themed brews; we love this local brand and love that we are taking our partnership to new heights every year!

A special shout out to MC Mark Fitzgibbon – the Aquarium’s very own shining star who is not only a charismatic member of our floor staff, but also a radio presenter and a qualified marine biologist (talk about a room full of talent!) – who made sure the crowd was up to speed and ready to immerse themselves in the magic of music at the Two Oceans Aquarium.

And thanks to Tecla Ciolfi of Texx and the City, who has once again shown why she’s earned her place at the top of the South African music industry by curating an absolute cracker of a show. We know the next three #AfterDark19 gigs are going to make waves:

Our MVP Tecla Ciolfi with M-Net Marketing Manager Justin Jacobie
