Pleased to meet you: Natasha Naidoo, Tourism Client Liaison

Natasha Naidoo is the Two Oceans Aquarium’s new Tourism Client Liaison. She’s been in the job for just over two months now, and we caught up with her to find out more about what she does at the Aquarium.

What’s your previous experience, and where did you study/qualify for the position?

I worked in banking, travel and hospitality and then took a short break last year, when I volunteered at IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) before joining the Aquarium.

What does your job entail?

To represent and promote the Two Oceans Aquarium as one of the top tourist attractions in Cape Town. I am responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with clients and industry partners to support and stimulate business for the entire Aquarium, and its unique offerings.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love meeting new people and being constantly busy and on the go. There is never a dull moment and time flies because I am having so much fun.

You are still relatively new to the Aquarium. What were your first impressions of the place?

The working environment is unlike anything I have experienced before. It is very relaxed, yet extremely organised and no day is ever the same.

Have you got a favourite animal or exhibit yet?

Ayoba stole my heart. On my first day, as I walked into the Aquarium, he was waddling around visitor services and I was smitten.

What is the most interesting thing about your colleagues at the Aquarium?

They have a passion for what they do and although there is always loads to do, there is always an element of fun!

What are you most looking forward to in your job over the next year?

I want to make a difference. I want people to remember the Aquarium when they see me!

Where’s your favourite place to go on holiday/relax after work?

I love the Winelands in summer but nothing beats lying on my couch with a book, some chocolate and a glass of wine. smile
