Daniël le Roux’s visit to the Aquarium

Last Friday, the Two Oceans Aquarium hosted a very special little boy. Daniël le Roux turned three and had a special birthday visit to the Aquarium. Daniël suffers from Leigh’s disease and has been in the ICU facility at Cape Gate Medi-Clinic since October 2012.

Daniël is fascinated by fish, according to his mother. Last year, Reach for a Dream turned his room into an underwater wonderland as a special treat. He has in the meantime had further surgery and has acquired a mobile ventilator, which allows him to leave his room.

And he was in for quite a wonderful time at the Aquarium, which had organised special underwater surprises for him (he even met Samantha, our penguin mascot). Daniël was accompanied by his doctor and a number of support staff. He was also joined by some of his little friends. They were all treated to a great visit to the underwater world of the Aquarium.

The Two Oceans Aquarium wished Daniël a very happy birthday, filled with underwater wonders, shiny, shimmering fish, and lots and lots of laughter. We’d also like to thank Tiger’s Eye for their donation, which formed part of Daniël’s gift.
