Renée Leeuwner – Assistant Communications & Sustainability Manager at Two Oceans Aquairum

In June this year, we received a critically endangered hawksbill turtle for rehabilitation.

We thought we’d give you an update on her progress by making a little video.

Since the arrival of Otto, who was named for her rescuer, angler Koos Otto, we’ve received two more hawksbill turtles. One was found at Melkbosstrand, weighing just over 1kg. The other was found in Gansbaai and weighed almost 8kg. They are all being rehabilitated and will be released.

Many thanks to everyone who continues to visit the Aquarium, has joined our membership programme, or donated to us. The money we receive goes directly towards our conservation efforts. Rehabilitating Otto would not be possible without your support.
