Appearance and lifestyle:
King penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus) are the second largest penguins on earth. The best way to distinguish King penguins from the other species is by the splash of yellow feathers on their upper chests and the teardrop-shaped patches of colour on the sides of their heads. King penguin chicks are dark brown and fluffy.
Habitat:
These penguins live on several islands in the subantarctic area, including Macquarie Island in the Pacific Ocean.
Diet:
King penguins eat krill, squid and small fish.
Threats:
The king penguin is listed as Least concern on the IUCN red list, but they also face some threats such as pollution, climate change, habitat loss etc.
