Appearance and lifestyle:
Clanwilliam sawfins (Pseudobarbus serra) have a slender body with small spines that are in a saw-like row, they are olive-brown and sometimes have a golden sheen. Males and females gather together under waterfalls and rapids to breed.
Habitat:
Live only in deep pools in the Olifants River system in the Western Cape.
Diet:
They are omnivorous and they feed on worms, small crustacean, aquatic insect larvae etc.
Threats:
Pollution, habitat destruction, climate change etc.
They are one of the redfin species in South Africa.

They are night feeders.
