Vacancy: Financial Accountant

The Two Oceans Aquarium Trust’s Finance Department is looking for an individual with a strong sense of ethics, a passion for continuous learning, and a natural passion for the field of accounting. The candidate must have current knowledge of accounting principles and practices as well as the ability to emphasise accuracy in all tasks.

Only candidates with the relevant experience in the following will be considered:

  • Solid e-Filing knowledge
  • Income Tax submissions for individuals, companies and trusts
  • Monthly submissions of VAT and PAYE
  • VAT, PAYE, UIF and COIDA submissions
  • Annual COIDA submissions

Responsibilities include:

  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Review accounts receivable and review statements
  • Review accounts payable and review reconciliations
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal, company, trust accounting and financial guidelines
  • Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, etc., as assigned
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information is accurate and immediately available when needed
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
  • Supervise junior staff performance
  • Complete the monthly accounting process up to and including trial balance and submission of the management accounting pack to various stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an accountant
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Bus. Sci/B Comm in accounting, finance or relevant field
  • Solid knowledge of Pastel Partner and/or Xero
  • SAICA or SAIPA articles will be advantageous
