Vacancy: Dive School PADI SCUBA Instructor

The Two Oceans Aquarium Dive school is a certified 5* PADI Dive Centre which offers  our visitors a one-stop-shop for all things scuba diving in Cape Town. 
We are looking for an outgoing individual with a passion for delivering industry leading service while demonstrating exemplary skills. This position establishes and drives a positive working environment and focuses on the visitor experience while operating with optimum safety in all activities with our clients and fellow colleagues in mind. 

The successful candidate must be able to teach PADI programs adhering to all standards and guide scuba dives and other activities as required. You must be able to respond to emergency situations and perform first aid duties as and when required. 

Key responsibilities


• Leads the day-to-day operation of the dive school.
• Teaching and preparing adventure dive clients to become competent in basic scuba diving activities.
• Conducts daily safety briefings and equipment checks.
• Supervises dive staff, dive interns and volunteers. 
• Manages equipment maintenance schedules and reports defects.
• Co-ordinates daily dive schedules and staffing. 
• Maintain dive logs, cylinder records and operational documentation. 
• Liaises with Curatorial and animal care teams to ensure daily activities run smoothly. 
• Help co-ordinate and promote the Aquarium’s dive program both on-site and offsite at various shore excursions.
• Assist with general administrative duties associated with the day-to-day operation of the dive portfolio.

Minimum Requirements


• PADI OWSI or higher, with valid PADI membership and current Teaching Status.
• Current EFR Instructor certification.
• Valid diving medical and professional liability insurance.
• Minimum of 150 logged dives.
• Own complete, serviceable scuba equipment, including a dive computer.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• MS Office computer literacy.
• Strong spoken and written English.
• Available to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays.


Advantageous Qualifications and Experience


• PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or higher.
  Specialty Instructor ratings in Deep, Wreck, Enriched Air Nitrox, Peak 
  Performance Buoyancy and Underwater Naturalist.
• PADI Freediver Instructor qualification.
• Experience teaching in cold-water environments.
• Compressor-operation or cylinder-handling training.
• Basic equipment-maintenance knowledge.
• Experience with bookings, payments, eLearning administration and customer databases.
• South African Code EB driver’s licence or trailer-driving experience.
• Ability to communicate in additional languages.
• First aid, fire-safety or occupational health-and-safety training


Salary: To be discussed at interview.              

Starting date: Depending availability.
