The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation has a 30-year history of providing quality ocean literacy education to school communities in Cape Town and beyond. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals interested in short-term casual employment to join our Ocean Campus team.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, working with children, and creating meaningful learning experiences. As a Casual Assistant, you will support the School Groups Coordinator in delivering engaging, educational, and enjoyable experiences for learners and teachers.
Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the School Coordinator, the responsibilities and duties will include:
• Assist in the coordination and facilitation of school group visits.
• Ensure a welcoming and educational atmosphere for learners and teachers.
• Presenting and performing puppet shows (training will be provided).
• Assisting with the supervision and movement of school groups throughout the Aquarium.
• Providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive visitor experience at all times.
Requirements:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Languages: Spoken English and Afrikaans/ Xhosa recommended.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Available for flexible working hours.
• Experience working with children and/or large groups of learners.
• An interest in Early Childhood Development, environmental education, and marine conservation.
Min. Education requirements:
• National Senior Certificate, Early Childhood Development Certificate, Environmental Education Certificate, or similar.
• At least 1-year experience working with large groups.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Salary: Entry-level hourly rate.
