The Two Oceans Aquarium is looking for an enthusiastic, articulate, and visitor-focused Floor Guide to join our Front of House team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about marine life and conservation, and who enjoys engaging with people from diverse backgrounds.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering memorable visitor experiences while upholding the Aquarium’s mission and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day Front of House operations of the Aquarium
- Deliver engaging, informative, and educational public talks, presentations, and guided tours
- Confidently engage with large and small groups of visitors, including school groups and visitors of all ages and backgrounds
- Interact professionally with divers, curatorial staff, volunteers, and other team members both front and back of house
- Stay informed on daily schedules, animal husbandry updates, and general Aquarium information
- Adhere to all safety protocols, assist during emergency situations, monitor public areas, and promptly report safety concerns
- Uphold the Two Oceans Aquarium’s mission, vision, and customer service standards at all times
Minimum Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Oceanography, Zoology, or a related field
- Previous experience working with visitors in a hospitality, tourism, or eco-tourism environment (preferred)
- Excellent spoken English; the ability to communicate in another South African language will be advantageous
- Confidence in presenting and speaking to both small and large groups
- A friendly, approachable, creative, and enthusiastic personality
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and professionalism
- Full flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and year-round
- First Aid training will be an advantage
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods in public areas
Start Date: 1 June 2026
