A hands-on learning experience
Welcome to the Two Oceans Aquarium Environmental Education Centre
The Two Oceans Aquarium Environmental Education Centre has hosted more than 147 432 learners from around the country in the last three years alone. Teachers inevitably rave about the all-encompassing experience, which emphasises fun and wonder, and has a strong commitment to conservation education – read some testimonials from teachers here.
We offer educational programmes to school groups that complement the work done in schools – from pre-school to grade 12 – that have been carefully designed to connect with the South African curriculum.
Then there are the wildly popular educational sleepovers, which include a guided tour of the Aquarium, arts 'n crafts, fun and games, sit-down dinner, a DVD and cereal breakfast with fruit juice the next morning.
Our Outreach: Oceans in Motion programme aims to reach under-resourced schools around Cape Town that can't afford to visit the Aquarium.
Eager young marine biologists can't get enough of our Junior and Young Biologist Courses. These courses are run throughout the year – teachers and students are encouraged to keep an eye on our blog for upcoming course dates and other Education Centre-related news.
Matrics studying for their end-of-year Life Sciences exams find our Grade 12 Winter School invaluable – dates are announced on our website as well as via our Twitter and Facebook social networking platforms.
Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners can also fulfill their job shadowing requirements at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
Your students will discover a whole new world in the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Discovery Centre programmes
The Two Oceans Aquarium Environmental Education Centre's two Discovery Centres have been uniquely designed with experiential learning in mind.
Each centre is fitted with aquariums where school students can observe and touch the animals or plants.
We also have an excellent array of AV equipment, including projection microscopes, to enhance the experience.
Our 2011 Education Programmes boast topics for the natural sciences including invertebrates, amphibians, marine food chains, kelp forest ecology, rocky shore ecology, wetlands and water conservation.

We are very aware that many school students and schools cannot afford to visit the Aquarium.
To accommodate such groups we visit the schools with our Oceans in Motion outreach van.
