Birthday parties

We know that parents don’t want to have the hassle of cleaning up their home after a bunch of kids, nor do they want to worry about the catering and décor. 

The Two Oceans Aquarium, in conjunction with I&J, now provides a complete package that includes a child-friendly guided tour of the Aquarium, a fully catered lunch with party box, décor and activities, including an opportunity to get close up and personal with a penguin, have a diver send your little one a special message or let your child form part of the cast of the puppet show.

This party is both entertaining and educational, does not depend on the weather and is hassle free.

General information

Parties are available from Mondays to Sundays (excluding 15 December to 10 January).

There are four time slots to choose from.

Parties last for two hours in total. 

A minimum of 10 kids per party is required; a maximum of 20 kids per party is allowed.

We insist upon a minimum supervision of one (1) adult per five (5) kids. Adults accompanying party children, paid for by the mom/dad, come in at a special rate of R52.50 per person. Parents buying their own tickets on the day will pay the normal entrance rate of R105 per person. We only accept a maximum of one adult per child attending the party.

Schedule: 10h00: Puppet show; 11h00: Watch the penguin feed and arts ‘n craft; 14h00: Watch the penguin feed; 14h30: Watch the fish being fed or arts ‘n crafts

Seymour package

R155 per child – Fridays to Sundays (weekends)

R115 per child – Mondays to Thursdays (excluding public holidays)

This package includes:

  • Dippy Dunker décor.

  • Unlimited invitations for all the kids (email and print versions).

  • Entrance into the Aquarium with a supervised, child-friendly guided tour.

  • Entrance for birthday child’s mom and dad.

  • Meal with beverage (soda/fruit juice) at the Shoreline Café.

  • A party box per child containing a selection of sweets and party goodies.

  • The birthday child’s name displayed on the party table.

  • Name badges and treasure chest to store gifts.

  • During the tour you can choose one of the following: puppet show, penguin feed, I&J Predator Exhibit feed or an arts ’n crafts session (dependent on the time of the party).

Savvy package

R285 per child – Fridays to Sundays (weekends)

R230 per child – Mondays to Thursdays (excluding public holidays)

This package includes the Seymour package, plus:

  • Themed décor of your choice.

  • A themed 3-D birthday cake and themed cupcakes.

  • Frog sticker book for each child.

  • Themed cupcake.

  • Meal and beverage as above plus ice cream.

  • A special Aquarium gift for the birthday child.

  • A gift membership for the birthday child which allows them to visit the fish whenever they wish!

Maya package (private venue) 

More suitable for younger children who need to crawl or sit on the ground.

R2 500 – private venue hire

R155 per child – Fridays to Sundays (weekends)

R115 per child – Mondays to Thursdays (excluding public holidays)

This package includes the Seymour package, plus:

  • Exclusive use of the Metropolitan Health Group & Qualsa Think Tank Auditorium as your party venue for two hours, post-Aquarium tour.

  • To entertain toddlers or babies we will provide a number of age-appropriate toys in the venue.

  • To accommodate younger catering needs the meal can be changed to include options such as macaroni and cheese, yoghurt and fruit salad, and purity.

  • The party box contents can also be adapted to include snacks, like teething biscuits, flings and so on, that are more appropriate for toddlers and babies.

Extras that we can organise on your behalf include:

  • Themed birthday cakes.

  • Themed cupcakes (3-D or decorated cupcakes).

  • Alternate themed décor.

  • Catering for the adults joining the party.

  • An appearance by our mascot characters Silver the Shark and Terminator the Seal for photos.

  • A birthday poster displayed by one of our divers in the I&J Predator Exhibit.

  • A birthday certificate from a puppet at the puppet show.

  • Add R8 if you want to add a frog sticker book to the party box.

  • Penguin Encounters for children over 8 (during the 11h00 timeslot only).

  • Professional on-site photography service by Kodak Tijan Media Concepts, who will supply a free photographer for kiddies parties, providing the parties take place in normal Two Oceans Aquarium operating hours – on the basis that a minimum number of photographs, beautifully framed, are purchased (the cost of these photographs are not included in the birthday party packages). Members perks

  • Members get a 20% discount on the children’s packages only. (Applies to parties booked on Fridays to Sundays only.)

  • If the mom and dad of the birthday child are members of the Aquarium, their entrance is transferable to another family member.

Children's meal options

  1. I&J fish fingers and chips.

  2. Chicken nuggets and chips.

  3. Burgers and chips.

  4. Macaroni and cheese.

All children's meals are served with a beverage from the soda fountain/juice.
