Song, sound and poetry – with sharks, shoals and shimmer
By Ingrid Sinclair / 7 June 2012
There’s something indescribable about watching a performance in front of the Two Ocean’s Aquarium’s I&J Predator Exhibit. It’s already magical to be at the Aquarium after hours … A quiet descends on the exhibits and it almost feels illicit, as if you’ve stumbled upon a secret and private world of incredible sea life and stunning sights. Goosebumps guaranteed.
If you’ve only ever heard this experience spoken about in hushed tones, then experience it for yourself with OPEN: An evening of song, sound and poetry on 16 June (Youth Day) – a once-off special concert featuring Cape Town greats Jonny and Julie Blundell and Anele Viti from the Rhythm Workshop, poets Diana Ferrus and Sandile Mhi, and renowned jazz/folk singer Tina Schouw.
Drift away in the company shoals of silver fish, graceful rays and sharks …
We are delighted to host this once-off event with non-profit organisation I Am Somebody! I Am Somebody! “provides people with the personal foundation for making better choices, stronger communities internally, integrated solutions between communities and restored relationships with nature that nurture community development. [Their] programmes are based on principles of storytelling, the give and take of listening and the authenticity of real exchange.”
