Egg-citing times at the Two Oceans Aquarium this Easter

By Two Oceans Aquarium / 25 March 2011

School holidays and Easter at the Two Oceans Aquarium will definitely be a time of egg-citing activities for young and old to enjoy. With egg hunts and snake shows as well as special arts and crafts, the Aquarium is the place to be between 2 and 10 April, and then again between 22 April and 2 May.

Francois van Zyl, a local snakehandler and all-things-slithery enthusiast, will bring a number of snake species to the Aquarium for a series of interactive and fun presentations. These presentations will take place daily at 10h30 and 13h00.

Some of the snakes he will introduce to Aquarium visitors include puffadders, rattle snakes and Cape cobras.

Francois’s first appearance at the Aquarium was during the 2010 aSCAREium celebrations. His presentations mesmerised audiences and Francois, being passionate about educating people about snakes, ensured that visitors walked away with more respect for all the slithering creatures that share this earth with us.

Between 2 and 10 April and then again between 22 April and 2 May, young visitors to the Aquarium will also have the opportunity to participate in an Easter egg hunt with a difference.

When arriving at the Aquarium, children will receive an Egg Hunt map. Once they have found the Easter eggs, hidden in various exhibits in the Aquarium, they will be able to claim their very own marshmallow egg and enter the draw for a special Easter hamper. During this time, the Aquarium’s AfriSam Children’s Centre will also be abuzz with eggciting arts and crafts for the little ones to enjoy.

The Aquarium will also launch its new discounted family membership package. This special offer will be valid from 1 April 2011 until 31 August 2011. A family membership for two adults and one child will be discounted to R460: A saving of R110. Two adults and two children will pay only R550 for a year’s worth of visits: A saving of R130.

A membership to the Aquarium allows one to visit the fish as often as one wishes for an entire year. These savings are just right in preparation for the winter months when the weather is rather unpredictable and the indoors of the Aquarium becomes the perfect place to spend those wintery days.

    Hi there Jean-Claude
The Egg Hunt is a hunt with a difference. We’ve hidden colourful eggs in some of our exhibits. When you come and visit, you need to look out for them on the your way through the Aquarium. At the entrance, you will receive a “hunt map”. Once you’ve gone through the Aquarium, found all the eggs and completed the map, your little one will receive a marshmallow egg. Remember to complete the competition section of the map. There are 2 awesome hampers up for grabs. The snake shows take place at 10:30 and 13:00 in the I&J Predator Exhibit. It is also forms part of your visit, so no need to book.

    See you soon!
