A sad farewell to an Aquarium powerhouse

It is with great sadness that the Two Oceans Aquarium bids farewell to one of its stalwarts, Jillian Grindley-Ferris, at the end of October 2011. Jillian has resigned from her position as Brand and Business Manager to join the executive management team of Cape Town Routes Unlimited, where she will hold the position of Executive Manager: Leisure Marketing, and be deputy to the CEO, Calvyn Gilfellan.
She has been a strategic player on the Aquarium’s senior management team, and not only inspires vision and innovation, but also has a critical and insightful understanding of the business, which has contributed significantly to the Aquarium’s ongoing profitability.
Pick n Pay becomes the first African retailer to commit to sustainable seafood

Availability of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified seafood is set to increase on South African retail shelves following the announcement yesterday by Pick n Pay that they intend to sell only sustainable products across their entire fresh, frozen and canned seafood range, by the end of 2015.
Two Oceans Aquarium awarded top environmental status

The Two Oceans Aquarium was recently awarded Platinum status by the Heritage Environmental Management Company in recognition of its efforts towards sustainability and reducing the impact of its operations on the environment. This achievement comes just four years after the first audit, when the Aquarium achieved Silver status.
Early-bird registration opens for 2012 International Aquarium Congress

Early-bird registration is now open for the 2012 International Aquarium Congress, which will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 9 to 14 September 2012. Exhibition sales have also opened and a limited number of exciting sponsorship opportunities are available. Hosted by the Two Oceans Aquarium, this is the first time that the congress will be held in Africa, and indeed in the southern hemisphere.
Shoreline Café at the Two Oceans Aquarium becomes first MSC-certified restaurant in Africa

On 19 July 2011, Shoreline Café at the Two Oceans Aquarium became the first restaurant in Africa to be awarded Chain-of-Custody certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) .
