New additions: Two short-tail stingrays join the I&J Predator Exhibit

After a short period in quarantine, two large short-tail stingrays (Dasyatis brevicaudata) were recently introduced to the Two Oceans Aquarium’s I&J Predator Exhibit.
Two Oceans Aquarium 2011 Young Biologists graduate

Each group that completes the Young Biologist (YB) Course has a graduation six months after completing the initial week-long programme. The YB group of 2011 had theirs on 14 April 2012. All the YBs have certificate categories to aim for, a diamond certificate denoting the highest honour.

On 25 April 2012, the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town played host to members of the media, elite athletes and a celeb or two as part of the 2012 Otter African Trail Run media launch. In attendance? None other than already legendary Ryan Sandes.
Hiking, snorkelling and volunteering are par for the Young Biologist Course

Our Young Biologist Course, sponsored by De Beers Marine, has been running for 12 years and every year it is very popular. So much so that we receive around 100 applications and can only accept a maximum of 54 Grade 10 learners per course. In light of this, the Two Oceans Environmental Education Centre team decided to run a second Young Biologist Course aimed at Grade 11s only. Our first one took place from 26 March to 1 April 2012 and saw 52 Grade 11s from across Cape Town take part.
